He did not win them back, but he came to a realization. To get what you want from life, you must take it. Recently a tribe of goblins attacked the village and all able bodies who could hold a blade were quickly armed and sent to the walls. Paelias fought at the side of some of the regions greatest heroes but was never overshadowed.

He couldn't stand his childhood mentor and eventually formed a pact with his mentor's previously failed apprentice to rebel. When their plan failed the mentor lashed out against both of them and fled. He was always very intelligent and has formed a secret society of philosophers.

Personality: He hates dire rats. He views them as having robbed his home of its proper glory. He is lazy, self-centered, vain, and jealous.

History: He is a Hag in disguise. A serious injury left his mother unemployed and in need of constant care. His family became saddled with debt trying to care for his infirm mother. When he grew older, he became a bit more civilized, usually hanging around bars and taverns. He began work as a mercenary for hire. He would embark on any mission as long as the price was right.
