History: Sold as a small child to a necromancer, Theren was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. His father worked until he suffered an accident while they were digging through a hill for a new route. He had to support his now crippled father and took his father's old job. By chance he met his sister recently and the two have been together since.

One night he noticed a nearby shooting star which he hiked out to see where it landed. It turned out to be an ancient artifact of some kind. He has done his darndest to repair it but it is currently non-functional.

Motivation: His name or reputation has been wronged in the past by giants, and he desires to right it; and he seems to be bored by most things
