History: When he was but 5 years old his parents immigrated from the east. Aside from being a slave or a gladiator, there isn't much legitimate work for Elves in Varis's homeland. Varis decided to take the middle way and become a bodyguard. He left for the east, certain he would find work there.

He has had some formal painting training, and achieved minor success. He routinely visits covens of witches but complains that many are fraudulent and lack true knowledge of magic.
