One night he noticed a nearby shooting star which he hiked out to see where it landed. It turned out to be an ancient artifact of some kind. He has done his darndest to repair it but it is currently non-functional.

Description: An imposing man with a heavy stainless steel prosthetic left leg, he is wearing the road beaten gear of a warrior. His blonde hair is singed and shortened. His eyes, though not visible through his cowl, are hazel.

Personality: Cocky and sure of himself, he believes he is the best Painter born in the past three hundred years. He is susceptible to being scared and is in actuality easily frightened. He likes to tell stories.

History: He was born in the west, but his parents moved at a very young age to the south. In his 18th year, while out on a day-trip, he returned to find his hometown burning and destroyed. He found his mother impaled in their home, and his father beheaded. He saw the man who walked out, and charged him in a blind rage. The man easily evaded and defeated him, leaving him to live broken and terrified. Recently a tribe of dire rats attacked the village and all able bodies who could hold a blade were quickly armed and sent to the walls. Paelias fought at the side of some of the regions greatest heroes but was never overshadowed.

History: Trained by his father for as long as he can remember he had it drilled in his head that it was his duty to serve his country. He graduated from the Naval Academy and went to see the world at the rank of Ensign. He advanced relatively quickly due to his good work ethic, understanding of the chain of command, and natural leadership ability. After a long history of fighting, Berrian and his spouse have recently divorced.
