His uncle (a powerful person with enemies on both sides of the law) took him in and had him trained in basic self defense. Lacking all sense, he decided to go on an adventure. He picked a direction and started trekking.

Motivation: Doesn't want to be a Merchant and was forced into it by his family; and he feels that his past leaves him morally obligated to help

Personality: He is business-like. He takes instructions and follows them to the letter. His brief stint in the army gave him the idea he was invincible and that he is the toughest man alive.

History: Born in a small village he learned the ways of the warrior from his father. He graduated from the Naval Academy and went to see the world at the rank of Ensign. He advanced relatively quickly due to his good work ethic, understanding of the chain of command, and natural leadership ability. He hasn't been sleeping well lately.

Motivation: A need for knowledge about a nearby landmark; and he wants nothing more than to rejoin the army

Personality: He is intelligent and cunning, but he will too often allow his rage to get the better of him. He will lose his cool and rely on brute force to carry the day. He has a minor phobia of water and hates getting wet.

History: He was born in the north, but his parents moved at a very young age to the south. Through the years after Paelias was born, his father became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the north. Paelias's father didn't care for him much, and the feeling was mutual. He's also a talented Dyer, but doesn't like to broadcast it.

Personality: He acts crazy and hedonistic. He constantly seizes attention wherever he goes and has come to expect this respect from everyone. He likes to think of himself as merciful, but nonetheless is very strict.

History: Sold as a small child to a wizard, Soveliss was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. He couldn't stand his childhood mentor and eventually formed a pact with his mentor's previously failed apprentice to rebel. When their plan failed the mentor lashed out against both of them and fled. He knows his nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but him.
