History: He was born the only child of a wealthy merchant. A serious injury left his father unemployed and in need of constant care. His family became saddled with debt trying to care for his infirm father. He routinely visits covens of witches but complains that many are fraudulent and lack true knowledge of magic.

Motivation: Retire the richest man in the south; and to pay off his debts
