Motivation: He doesn't get along with people that don't share his tastes; and he has comitted a past crime that haunts him to this day

He spends most of his days drinking in the Inn, the rowdiest and most dangerous establishment in town. There he gambles, wrestles and listens to stories told by travelers.

History: Born in the east to a Blacksmith, Varis learned a great deal about his mother's area of expertise. He was married off to the eldest child of a minor noble. His spouse died of illness and he inherited everything. He has never given up on his painting dream.
