He got caught, but did not rat out his comrades and served his time in prison. Due to his spouse's obsession with being a Scribe they were divorced and he won custody of their daughter. It turned out to be an ancient artifact of some kind. He has done his darndest to repair it but it is currently non-functional.

He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to goblins demanding more tribute than usual.
