History: Born to a Carter, his mother struggled to pay the bills. A gifted student he started as a Carter, but he got bored and became a Barrister. After a long history of fighting, Lamlis and his spouse have recently divorced.

He was regularly beaten by his father, who blamed him for driving them apart. He knows his nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but him.
