History: Uthemar hails from a village terrorized by dire rats. His parents were killed by dire rats in a raid when he was still a young child. The dire rats captured him, and made him a slave and general play-thing. He was beaten and tortured regularly, leading to his deformed appearance. Some 8 years later his spouse died after the birth of his daughter. Heartbroken, Uthemar never married again. Varis was left his mother's suit of armor and trained in its use and care. He hopes to save up enough money to one day pay a cleric to cure him.

He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.
