He was preparing to flee to the west, but the outbreak of war prevented him and his mother from journeying west to reunite his family. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to goblins demanding more tribute than usual.

History: He served in the navy to pay for his family's outstanding loans. While he appears to be a normal Elf, he's... not quite right. Perhaps he's slightly insane, or otherwise so mentally alien to the rest of the world that he plain doesn't fit in. He used his abilities to travel the world and help people.

Motivation: A rival would like him out of the picture; and he is being blackmailed/forced/etc and this influences his actions
