His mother had invested heavily in several trade routes and wanted him to inherit them. He has been a successful dealer in antiques buying low and selling high.

Because his mother participated in the massacre of their homeland, drow burned their ranch to the ground and forced them out. He was preparing to flee to the south, but the outbreak of war prevented him and his father from journeying south to reunite his family. He knows his nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but him.
