Rael grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Rael. He now owns his own business.

Through the years after Paelias was born, his father became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the south. He did not win them back, but he came to a realization. To get what you want from life, you must take it. He tends to his Crown-heir job now, and dutifully fulfills any obligations he has.

Motivation: Balancing his hectic life and new Crown-heir responsibilities is difficult.
