His father had invested heavily in several trade routes and wanted him to inherit them. He now mingles about in high society.

History: He was born on a small isolated farm. Through the years after Varis was born, his mother became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the south. Varis's mother didn't care for him much, and the feeling was mutual. He hasn't been sleeping well lately.

Motivation: He's repulsed by the PC; and he made a deal with a demon which lead to his current lot in life, and he's becoming increasingly nervous about it
