Motivation: Someone believes him a fraud; and his name or reputation has been wronged in the past by drow, and he desires to right it

In his defense of animals however he would do severe harm to people. As of late he has set up a hidden staging nest where he ambushes people he hires for escort.

Motivation: He feels that his past leaves him morally obligated to help; and he has decided he is irredeemable
