As a very small child his family refused to pay dues to a local crime lord, who ordered them killed. Due to his spouse's obsession with being a Unemployed they were divorced and he won custody of their daughter. He worked as a Shoemaker, and he later adopted a second daughter.

Motivation: He made a deal with a demon which lead to his current lot in life, and he's becoming increasingly nervous about it; and to reunite with his old friends
