History: He was born into a rich family. He graduated from the Naval Academy and went to see the world at the rank of Ensign. He advanced relatively quickly due to his good work ethic, understanding of the chain of command, and natural leadership ability. Days after completing his studies, news broke out that his hometown was attacked by orcs. Thervan was horrified and prayed that his father was alright. However, he heard that his father had died fighting off the orcs.

Motivation: Marry his sister to traveling adventurers; and his name or reputation has been wronged in the past by brigands, and he desires to right it

Personality: Varis hangs on like a leech to those who appreciate him. It was this clingy personality that held back his writing career. The war was a terrible time for him, and Varis does not often speak of it. When he does, he does so with a strained expression and tears in his eyes.

History: Born to a poor family in the city he treasured whatever gifts he got. When money was particularly tight he was walking through alleys when he overheard a Stableman hiring some criminals to sabotage a competitor. He made his way to the other competitor and parlayed his knowledge into a job. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.
