Without his spouse to temper him he grew out of control. He has been saving his money to try and buy his brother's freedom.

Personality: Lamlis is depressed about a lot of things. He tends to be a nihilist. He is afraid of women and trembles around them

History: Born in the north to a Bookbinder, Lamlis learned a great deal about his mother's area of expertise. He was married off to the eldest child of a minor noble. His spouse died of illness and he inherited everything. He then took over the family business and is one of the better Bookbinder for hire.

Motivation: He is greedy; and he desires power and/or immortality

Personality: He is a pretentious jerk insisting that modern society is full of problems and should revert to a simpler time. He does not mind isolation but does not hate company and attempts to receive them as best as possible.

History: He was raised in a white middle class family as the only child. His family was turned out during the war. He and his family wandered west to less war torn lands. After a long history of fighting, Nim and his spouse have recently divorced.

Motivation: He is currently in port desperately looking for someone to get him out; and he seems to be bored by most things

Personality: He is happy with his job as a Carter. He turns his eye from what people do, preferring to live and let live. He also has developed a complete distrust of the Bricklayer profession.

History: He grew up in a lower middle class home, but living comfortably wasn't enough. Being born in the south, he completed his medical training abroad so as to avoid the war. He returned after the war having achieved medical proficiency. He was a general practitioner in the south for years, until he, through no fault of his own, lost a patient who had a very powerful family. Rather than risk reprisal he made his way west. He then took over the family business and is one of the better Carter for hire.

Motivation: Find a way to reverse the transformation of his sister; and he is unsatisfied with his job

History: He was born with several neurological imbalances, which makes sleep difficult for him. It may also be what makes him so good at details. Since his mother passed away years ago, his father had doted on him, and he came to think her himself as special and better than other people in town. A notion that was reinforced by his attractiveness, a trait in which he easily excels the other men of his town. Since then, he has sought to make the best of life.
