History: Raised by wardens he was only a novice when dire rats swooped upon their monastery and killed most of the order. His mother was very strict, and drilled into him lessons on being the perfect gentleman. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to dire rats demanding more tribute than usual.

Motivation: He doesn't get along with people that don't share his tastes; and revenge

Personality: Varis wants to be seen as a stoic, levelheaded, noble Sorcerer, so he tries to act the part. He does a good job, for the most part... He has a hair trigger and will fly into rage over the tiniest perceived slights.

History: He was a bastard born out of an affair, and his mother always resented and mistreated him for it out of spite. Through the years after Varis was born, his mother became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the north.
