Personality: He has schizophrenia that causes him to hear things that aren't there and will sometimes respond to them. As he has aged he has sought to do reparations for his actions as a youth. He is also making sure that his compatriots who never received punishment for their crimes are brought to justice.

History: He was born blind and as such lacked many opportunities for work. At some point he was captured by illithids and was tortured. After several years of this he finally managed to escape. Days after completing his studies, news broke out that his hometown was attacked by illithids. Varis was horrified and prayed that his mother was alright. However, he heard that his mother had died fighting off the illithids.

History: A studious child he never was much for a social life, not because he was unlikable, but because he did not seek it out. In his 12th year, his parents were killed by a drow raid, leaving Rolen alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to drow demanding more tribute than usual.
