During his travels, Efferil and his party rested in a cavern that was (unknown to them) infused with powerful dark magic. Upon awakening, Efferil discovered the rest of his party dead, transformed into horrible, mindless undead versions of their former selves. Efferil fled the cavern, stopping for breath at a small pool, and only then realizing his own horrible transformation.

Personality: He believes there is no problem he cannot solve with sufficient elbow grease and persistence, if it is the best or most economic solution matters not. The occasional robbery is his preferred attention getting crime, but he mainly uses his means for meeting his own perverse desires.

History: The child of southern immigrants he idolized his mother. He couldn't stand his childhood mentor and eventually formed a pact with his mentor's previously failed apprentice to rebel. When their plan failed the mentor lashed out against both of them and fled. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

Motivation: He will attempt to ambush and attack anyone he thinks he can take on alone and try to knock them out with non-lethal damage. If successful, he will try to sell them to his slave-trader contact.

He returned after the war having achieved medical proficiency. He was a general practitioner in the south for years, until he, through no fault of his own, lost a patient who had a very powerful family. Rather than risk reprisal he made his way west.
