History: Born the oldest of a large religious northern family, he was no stranger to responsibility. His parents died when he was young, and he was unceremoniously dumped in the city orphanage. Thervan grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Thervan. He has recently gotten a pet goose that steals things from people.

History: A child with a great deal of writing talent his parents made sure he got the chance to thrive. He has had some formal writing training, and achieved minor success. He has set out to sabotage the competition.

History: He comes from a rich northern family. From there he went from mercenary job to mercenary job. Days after completing his studies, news broke out that his hometown was attacked by illithids. Varis was horrified and prayed that his father was alright. However, he heard that his father had died fighting off the illithids.

Motivation: His name or reputation has been wronged in the past by illithids, and he desires to right it; and he made a deal with a demon which lead to his current lot in life, and he's becoming increasingly nervous about it

History: Naal hails from a village terrorized by drow. His father had invested heavily in several trade routes and wanted him to inherit them. He has built up a small fortune and can afford his own way.
