History: A child with a great deal of poetry talent his parents made sure he got the chance to thrive. His family was turned out during the war. He and his family wandered south to less war torn lands. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

History: Raised by wardens he was only a novice when dire rats swooped upon their monastery and killed most of the order. His father was supposedly a charlatan fortune teller, but he insists his father was legitimate. He hasn't been sleeping well lately.

Personality: He hates dire rats. He views them as having robbed his home of its proper glory. The occasional robbery is his preferred attention getting crime, but he mainly uses his means for meeting his own perverse desires.

History: He was born in the south, but his parents moved at a very young age to the east. Because his father participated in the massacre of their homeland, dire rats burned their ranch to the ground and forced them out. He was preparing to flee to the south, but the outbreak of war prevented him and his mother from journeying south to reunite his family. One night he noticed a nearby shooting star which he hiked out to see where it landed. It turned out to be an ancient artifact of some kind. He has done his darndest to repair it but it is currently non-functional.

Personality: He is enamored with his job. He loves it. He likes the challenge and he likes helping those less fortunate than him. Around other people he will do his best to conceal his emotions and appear jolly.

History: Berrian lived on a farm with his mother, near the main road leading to a nearby town. He was an apprentice working in his mother's forge. He has been saving his money to try and buy his sister's freedom.

Motivation: His spouse's relatives view him with great suspicion; and an old rival family wants him found
