History: Trained by his father for as long as he can remember he had it drilled in his head that it was his duty to serve his country. His father was a soldier and died while he was still young. Varis was left his father's suit of armor and trained in its use and care. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to brigands demanding more tribute than usual.

Motivation: Several ex partners dislike his way of doing things and want revenge; and he doesn't get along with people that don't share his tastes
