Varis was born on a far northern forest where he grew up under the tutelage of his mother, an expert Barkeep. He has gone from town to town working and never settling down anywhere, but has fallen for a local Stylist. He hasn't told them the truth, but wants to settle down with them.

Through the years after Rolen was born, his father became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the west. Rolen's father didn't care for him much, and the feeling was mutual. He has never given up on his poetry dream.
