He was regularly beaten by his father, who blamed him for driving them apart. After a long history of fighting, Varis and his spouse have recently divorced.

Personality: He believes there is no problem he cannot solve with sufficient elbow grease and persistence, if it is the best or most economic solution matters not. As long as the job gets done he does not care how it got done.

History: He was born in the south. He graduated from the Naval Academy and went to see the world at the rank of Ensign. He advanced relatively quickly due to his good work ethic, understanding of the chain of command, and natural leadership ability. He moves from town to town, unable to find a place to settle.

He made his way to the other competitor and parlayed his knowledge into a job. He became a Miner soon after.
