History: Naeris was raised in a hard working conservative environment. His spouse left him for another, whom he beat to an almost bloody pulp. He did not win them back, but he came to a realization. However, he heard that his mother had died fighting off the illithids.

Motivation: He doesn't get along with people that don't share his tastes; and his name or reputation has been wronged in the past by illithids, and he desires to right it
