During his travels, Naal and his party rested in a cavern that was (unknown to them) infused with powerful dark magic. Upon awakening, Naal discovered the rest of his party dead, transformed into horrible, mindless undead versions of their former selves. Naal fled the cavern, stopping for breath at a small pool, and only then realizing his own horrible transformation.

History: He comes from a rich northern family. His family was being driven out of business by several neighboring competitors. The father sought out extralegal help and others began closing their doors. He saw this and took pride in his father's willingness to do anything to win. Being a Ploughman kept his interest for a while, but then he became depressed and bored. So he turned to a secret life of crime, taking increasingly more risks and challenges.

History: His history is one of pain. He was disowned by both parents and raised among the slaves his parents kept. He couldn't stand his childhood mentor and eventually formed a pact with his mentor's previously failed apprentice to rebel. When their plan failed the mentor lashed out against both of them and fled. He has never given up on his singing dream.
