History: Born in the north his family was never financially stable. He graduated from the Naval Academy and went to see the world at the rank of Ensign. He advanced relatively quickly due to his good work ethic, understanding of the chain of command, and natural leadership ability. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

His father taught him the rudiments of the Ploughman arts, while his mother instructed him in etiquette, music and courtly manner. His parents died when he was young, and he was unceremoniously dumped in the city orphanage. Rael grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Rael.
