It turned out to be an ancient artifact of some kind. He has done his darndest to repair it but it is currently non-functional.

Description: This man is bedraggled and starved. He wears dark leathers with embroidery. His long brown hair is drawn into a two foot long braid. His thin eyebrows rest above his beady hazel eyes.

Personality: Soft-spoken and well mannered, he has an amazing amount of patience and a slow boiling temper. He always tries to repair and not replace. It was this mentality that drove him into the Navigator business.

History: Sold as a small child to a wizard, Varis was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. When money was particularly tight he was walking through alleys when he overheard a Navigator hiring some criminals to sabotage a competitor. He made his way to the other competitor and parlayed his knowledge into a job. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

History: He was born in a small mountains village. He always admired martial-users and wanted to develop the talent, but never had the affinity for it. He bought a scimitar and has really upped his game hunting, due to his understanding of decoy and ambush.

Motivation: He made a deal with a demon which lead to his current lot in life, and he's becoming increasingly nervous about it; and nothing but the best is good enough for him

History: Korfel hails from a village terrorized by drow. A gypsy cursed him at a young age, leading to his ugly appearance. He has achieved small success as a Junk Dealer.

Motivation: He'd like to take his coworkers down a peg; and his name or reputation has been wronged in the past by drow, and he desires to right it
