To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Rael. He was granted arcane powers by his dying brother.

History: He is the product a well kept family trust fund and as such has never really known need. A few years later when the north was not economically sound they moved to his current location. He left for the west, certain he would find work there.
