Description: A well shaped man just over fifty, he wears tattered old clothes. His red hair is kept up in a ponytail inside a wide-brimmed hat. He has several tiny emerald earrings on each ear.

Personality: He is fixated on the number 21. He counts his steps and bites of food to keep in track with it. He seems to be used to being ignored and not questioned about it. He spends most of his days drinking in the Inn, the rowdiest and most dangerous establishment in town. There he gambles, wrestles and listens to stories told by travelers.

History: Born in the north to a Jeweler, Naeris learned a great deal about his mother's area of expertise. He was married off to the eldest child of a minor noble. His spouse died of illness and he inherited everything. He has set out to sabotage the competition.

History: He was a bastard born out of an affair, and his father always resented and mistreated him for it out of spite. His father had invested heavily in several trade routes and wanted him to inherit them. He has achieved small success as a Mercenary.

Motivation: Find a way to reverse the transformation of his brother; and he is unsatisfied with his job

Personality: He is shy and timid. He has not had much interaction with people and is skittish around them. He is a big fan of imagination and believes people should spend more time reading and writing.

History: A studious child he never was much for a social life, not because he was unlikable, but because he did not seek it out. He has chosen to use the inheritance that was left to him frivolously. He knows his nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but him.

Motivation: He is greedy.

Personality: He hates dire rats. He views them as having robbed his home of its proper glory. He is a logical person and will generally grow upset if things defy logic and science.

History: He was born in the south, but his parents moved at a very young age to the east. He moved from fad to fad and when he turned 15 he discovered writing. He left for the south, certain he would find work there.

Motivation: A deep hatred of dire rats; and someone believes him a fraud
