His uncle (a powerful person with enemies on both sides of the law) took him in and had him trained in basic self defense. He is searching for what he claims is his rightful reward.

History: He was born in the west, but his parents moved at a very young age to the north. In his 10th year, his parents were killed by a drow raid, leaving Hadarai alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. He has never given up on his painting dream.

He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to drow demanding more tribute than usual.
