He knows his nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but him.

History: He was born several months after his father was called into army service. His family was being driven out of business by several neighboring competitors. The father sought out extralegal help and others began closing their doors. He saw this and took pride in his father's willingness to do anything to win. After a long history of fighting, Varis and his spouse have recently divorced.

Description: He is a husky man, who wears clothing that is held on in multiple layers but all of it is in poor condition. His hair is cut close to his head. His voice is smooth and creepy, always level, but somehow just slightly unnerving.

Personality: Always inclined to offer people food he seems plenty friendly. He cannot deal with unfamiliar people for more than a few minutes at a time and if they persist he will grow angry at them.

History: He was born to a criminal king-pin and mafia family Naill was a troubled youth. He spent his days as a hard laborer instead of attending school, and spent his evenings with numerous mobsters and gang members. Naill decided he wanted neither the life of his father nor that of the evil petty criminals he associated with. During his early adolescence, he took a sudden opportunity while working the docks and commandeered a vessel that was left unmanned. Being a Merchant kept his interest for a while, but then he became depressed and bored. So he turned to a secret life of crime, taking increasingly more risks and challenges.

History: The child of a Layabout, who enjoyed hunting, Uthemar was taken on many hunting expeditions. There was a wharf not far from home where he often wandered off to fish. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to illithids demanding more tribute than usual.

Motivation: He seems to be bored by most things; and his name or reputation has been wronged in the past by illithids, and he desires to right it

Personality: He is a man who does what he needs to. He will acquiesce to black mail and extortion to avoid trouble. He is submissive, is generally bored by everything, but will take part in whatever people ask of him. He is by nature obliging.

History: He grew up in a lower middle class home, but living comfortably wasn't enough. His parents died when he was young, and he was unceremoniously dumped in the city orphanage. Peren grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Peren. He was always very intelligent and has formed a secret society of specialists.
