History: He was born to loving parents in a slum to the south. He moved out west to avoid the crime he committed. One night he noticed a nearby shooting star which he hiked out to see where it landed. It turned out to be an ancient artifact of some kind. He has done his darndest to repair it but it is currently non-functional.

Motivation: He is being blackmailed/forced/etc and this influences his actions; and many gnolls want him driven away

History: His arcane talent manifested at a young age. Aiming to upstage a rival house, his parents had him trained. His mother was supposedly a charlatan fortune teller, but he insists his mother was legitimate. He was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching him a humbling lesson in trusting others.

Motivation: Wishes to resurrect an old love; and he has a rivalry with the church that dominates his actions
