To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Nim. He has since married many spouses, only to have them die. His smile is extraordinarily sincere though he does not smile often.

Personality: He misses his glory days as an athlete. He does not mind his job, but it is boring in comparison. Animals are drawn to him, and he is able to talk to them.

History: When he was but 3 years old his parents immigrated from the west. His spouse left him for another, whom he beat to an almost bloody pulp. He did not win them back, but he came to a realization. To get what you want from life, you must take it. He has gone from town to town working and never settling down anywhere, but has fallen for a local Marshal. He hasn't told them the truth, but wants to settle down with them.

History: Theren was born with his mother's beautiful face. His childhood dream was to be a Mayor, but he was a colossal failure. He remains aloof and afraid to be himself due to all the ideals others have placed upon him.

Motivation: To find somewhere to settle down; and to end his boredom

History: A studious child he never was much for a social life, not because he was unlikable, but because he did not seek it out. A few years later when the south was not economically sound they moved to his current location. He left for the west, certain he would find work there.
