One night he noticed a nearby shooting star which he hiked out to see where it landed. It turned out to be an ancient artifact of some kind. He has done his darndest to repair it but it is currently non-functional.

History: Anthony was born into a poor family. Growing up, he dreamt of becoming a Fighter, to bring honor to his family’s name. History: He was born in the west, but his parents moved at a very young age to the south. He couldn't stand his childhood mentor and eventually formed a pact with his mentor's previously failed apprentice to rebel. When their plan failed the mentor lashed out against both of them and fled. During his travels, Nicholas and his party rested in a cavern that was (unknown to them) infused with powerful dark magic. Upon awakening, Nicholas discovered the rest of his party dead, transformed into horrible, mindless undead versions of their former selves. Nicholas fled the cavern, stopping for breath at a small pool, and only then realizing his own horrible transformation.
