When he came of age, he applied for a position with his town's local guard, looking to work his way up via merit and eventually become a Fighter in service of a powerful lord somewhere. He was an apprentice working in his father's forge. He is searching for what he claims is his rightful reward.

Personality: A grumpy guy he will invite people to lunch so he can critique them. Yet he still seems generally likeable, like a lovable grump. He loves his children and doesn't want them to worry about him. He loves to share his music with anyone who is interested.

History: He was born to loving parents in a slum to the north. Through the years after Gerald was born, his father became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the north. Gerald's father didn't care for him much, and the feeling was mutual. When his spouse passed he lost his only source of income but claims to his sons to still be retired.

Motivation: To unite with his sister; and marry his sister to traveling adventurers
