A notion that was reinforced by his attractiveness, a trait in which he easily excels the other men of his town. Since then, he has sought to make the best of life.

Motivation: Balancing his hectic life and new Bellfounder responsibilities is difficult; and he made a deal with a demon which lead to his current lot in life, and he's becoming increasingly nervous about it

History: Sold as a small child to a slaver, Shane was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. He couldn't stand his childhood mentor and eventually formed a pact with his mentor's previously failed apprentice to rebel. When their plan failed the mentor lashed out against both of them and fled. He has been saving his money to try and buy his brother's freedom.
