History: His mother raised him in a mountain cabin. There was a wharf not far from home where he often wandered off to fish. Recently a tribe of gnolls attacked the village and all able bodies who could hold a blade were quickly armed and sent to the walls. He was mortally wounded, saved by a kind and fast-acting Human doctor. He was always very intelligent and has formed a secret society of philosophers.

Motivation: A rival would like him out of the picture; and he has decided he is irredeemable
