He did not win them back, but he came to a realization. To get what you want from life, you must take it. He struck the Painter job and began his own company from there.

History: Sold as a small child to a brothel owner, Bernard was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. Through the years after Bernard was born, his mother became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the south. Bernard's mother didn't care for him much, and the feeling was mutual. He was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching him a humbling lesson in trusting others.
