History: Sold as a small child to a necromancer, Nicholas was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. He couldn't stand his childhood mentor and eventually formed a pact with his mentor's previously failed apprentice to rebel. When their plan failed the mentor lashed out against both of them and fled. He has recently gotten a pet goose that steals things from people.

History: Miles lived on a farm with his father, near the main road leading to a nearby town. His family was turned out during the war. He and his family wandered south to less war torn lands. He has since lost track of the people in his past.

Motivation: He made a deal with a demon which lead to his current lot in life, and he's becoming increasingly nervous about it; and wants to raise his children well
