Personality: Hugh is depressed about a lot of things. He tends to be a nihilist. He does suffer from mild PTSD, and the sight of illithids may trigger it at times.

History: The child of a Bowyer, who enjoyed hunting, Hugh was taken on many hunting expeditions. His father took him hunting and taught him how to get in the mind of other creatures. He has built up a small fortune and can afford his own way.

Motivation: His name or reputation has been wronged in the past by illithids, and he desires to right it.

He was mortally wounded, saved by a kind and fast-acting Human doctor. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to dire rats demanding more tribute than usual.

History: Bertram was born in the east. At a young age he loved to build and create. His spouse left him for another, whom he beat to an almost bloody pulp. He did not win them back, but he came to a realization. To get what you want from life, you must take it. Recently a tribe of illithids attacked the village and all able bodies who could hold a blade were quickly armed and sent to the walls. Bertram fought at the side of some of the regions greatest heroes but was never overshadowed.

History: He served in the navy to pay for his family's outstanding loans. A gifted student he started as a Herbalist, but he got bored and became a Laborer. He tends to his Laborer job now, and dutifully fulfills any obligations he has.

Motivation: He feels the way he acts is they only way to get by in the world; and further expansion of business
