It turned out to be an ancient artifact of some kind. He has done his darndest to repair it but it is currently non-functional.

History: He was always a brilliant, if unscrupulous mind. From his teen years he was always beautiful and desirable, so people have always doted on him. He routinely visits covens of witches but complains that many are fraudulent and lack true knowledge of magic.

History: Anselm was born the youngest of three triplets. Anselm was orphaned to a temple shortly after his birth. He was raised by the temple staff to care always for others above himself and to hold his god always in his heart. He has been saving his money to try and buy his sister's freedom.

History: John was raised in a hard working conservative environment. His parents enrolled him in a Fighter school at a young age so that he could practice his martial talents. He tends to his Sailor job now, and dutifully fulfills any obligations he has.
