Perhaps he's slightly insane, or otherwise so mentally alien to the rest of the world that he plain doesn't fit in. He remains aloof and afraid to be himself due to all the ideals others have placed upon him.

Motivation: He has a rivalry with the Church that dominates his actions; and he is compelled to act according to his religious beliefs

History: He was raised in a white middle class family as the only child. He was married off to the eldest child of a minor noble. His spouse died of illness and he inherited everything. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to drow demanding more tribute than usual.

Norman was born on a far western mountains where he grew up under the tutelage of his mother, an expert Carpenter. He remains aloof and afraid to be himself due to all the ideals others have placed upon him.
