History: Raised by wardens he was only a novice when dire rats swooped upon their monastery and killed most of the order. He dropped out of school before completing his studies. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to dire rats demanding more tribute than usual.

History: Hugh was raised in a hard working conservative environment. A gypsy cursed him at a young age, leading to his ugly appearance. He has set out to sabotage the competition.
