History: A powerful slaver made him what he is. He struck it rich when he found rare goods in large quantities. He has built up a small fortune and can afford his own way.

Motivation: He's repulsed by the PC; and he wants revenge against brigands

He did not win them back, but he came to a realization. To get what you want from life, you must take it. He tends to his Assassin job now, and dutifully fulfills any obligations he has.
