History: A child with a great deal of music talent his parents made sure he got the chance to thrive. In his 10th year, his parents were killed by a gnolls raid, leaving John alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. He knows his nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but him.

History: A studious child he never was much for a social life, not because he was unlikable, but because he did not seek it out. His arcane abilities were realized during a raid on his village. He was granted arcane powers by his dying brother.

Under his leadership it has flourished, and using capital from his venture he effectively owns an entire region. He has drifted apart from his friends and has been working freelance. Each gave each other a copy of their signature ceremonial dagger.
