History: He comes from a rich southern family. In his 12th year, his parents were killed by a illithids raid, leaving Adelard alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. He moves from town to town, unable to find a place to settle.

Motivation: His religion dominates his actions; and many illithids want him driven away
