History: Born in the south to a Mason, Gilbert learned a great deal about his mother's area of expertise. He dropped out of school to support his sick mother, and resented it. He has gone from town to town till he finds a spot where he can set up a sustainable business.

He hasn't told them the truth, but wants to settle down with them.
